At least 53 schools will be affected by the teacher strike tomorrow, as union members protest against an “unsustainable” workload and government changes to pay and pensions.

The national walk-out, organised by the National Union of Teachers (NUT), will see at least 18 Redbridge schools fully closed, with a further 35 partially closed.

It comes on the back of a series of strikes last year as part of a campaign against government changes to pay, pensions and workloads.

Christine Blower, general secretary of the NUT, said union members were left with “no alternative.”
