Newbury Park will be among the first Tube stations to get a “click and collect” Tesco as Transport for London (TfL) starts selling space.
Supermarket customers will be able to pick supermarket groceries ordered online up at the Central Line station, in Eastern Avenue.
It will be one of only 12 new collection points being opened in car parks across the Underground network by Tesco and Waitrose later this year.
More space inside the station could also turn into shops when the ticket office closes.
Offices at every Central Line station in Redbridge are set to close by 2015 as part of plans to will save TfL more than £40million a year.
A parcel company is also starting facilities at some stations and Asda has used car parks for “click and collect” vans.
Graeme Craig, director of commercial development at TfL, said: “The primary role of our stations must always be travel and we will never compromise that, but there is much more we can and will be doing to improve and modernise our stations to ensure they meet the wider needs of our busy customers.”
The agreements with supermarkets will make up a chunk of the authority’s £3.5billion income from commercial projects over the coming years.
