Roads in Ilford, Newbury Park and Gants Hill will be getting more greenery later this year when a tree planting programme starts.

Councillors at Redbridge Council’s area seven committee agreed to suggest roads for the scheme at a meeting on Tuesday.

Cllr Shoaib Patel called for more to be planted in Valentines ward but other councillors also had places in mind.

Cllr Aziz Choudhury suggested looking at different species, including evergreen trees that could provide colour all year round.

The committee will now put roads from the area forward for a report later this year.
