A man is in a serious condition after being hit by a car on the A406 in Woodford.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the crash on Sunday night at around 9.15pm just east of the Waterworks roundabout.

The force said it believed a silver Porsche Carrera hit the 41-year-old man while he was trying to cross the busy road.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Henson from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Chadwell Heath, who is leading the investigation, said: “This is an extremely busy stretch of road that has five lanes in each direction and has no pavements or crossing facilities for pedestrians.

“We are desperately seeking any witnesses who may have seen the collision or the pedestrian in the road just prior to the collision.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the witness appeal line on 0208 597 4874.

The police said no arrests had been made.
