Anyone with old photos, drawings or maps of Mayfield is being asked to send them in to help draft a document to protect the area.
Mayfield ward is a conservation area but it was noted by planning officers that it was at serious risk of losing its character.
It is one of 16 conservation areas in Redbridge but has been identified as the one which has undergone the most detrimental change to its character.
Anyone with documents which they think would be of interest, should send them to the LBR Historic Conservation Team, Planning and Regeneration, PO Box 2, Town Hall, 128-142 High Road, Ilford, IG1 1DD.
