Area committee five councillors expressed their dismay at the latest developments surrounding King George Hospital’s A&E.
As the Recorder reported last week, Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospital Trust (BHRUT) have said the department at the Goodmayes hospital will provisionally close between April and June in 2015.
Labour Cllr Wes Streeting said: “We’re seriously concerned the A&E is still under threat.
“All of us are very resolute and united in our campaign to save the services at the hospital. The cutbacks could be devastating for our constituents.”
Independent Cllr Andy Walker added: “I’m stunned the closure is still going ahead considering the failings in the Care Quality Commission report last month.”
