A councillor was left disappointed at the lack of progress regarding prostitution in Loxford.
Cllr Filly Maravala, who has campaigned to end the activity in and around Loxford, called for action at cabinet.
The scrutiny committee believes a sustained initiative is needed to reduce and eventually eradicate the problem that is said to heavily affect Ilford Lane.
Cllr Maravala said: “I am slightly disappointed as residents are still suffering and all you can see is prostitution paraphernalia. I want the council to make a large contribution to eradicate the problem.”
Cabinet has asked for time to consider the recommendations presented by the scrutiny committee, which include an appeal to Home Secretary Theresa May for extra resources.
Speaking at Tuesday’s cabinet meeting in Redbridge Town Hall, High Road, Ilford, council leader Cllr Keith Prince, said: “We share residents concerns in this matter and we will try and get the report done in one cycle.”
