Special screws have been distributed to vehicle owners due to the number of number plates being stolen from cars.
Mayfield Safer Neighbourhood Team has been giving out the tamper proof security screws as often number plates are just stuck on making it easier for thieves.
The number plates are stolen and then put on vehicles which are sometimes used to commit crimes.
Vehicle crime remains one of the priorities of the Mayfield team with operations to catch uninsured drivers regularly being undertaken.
