A petition to save an Ilford pub from being knocked down or turned into flats is nearing 400 signatures after only starting last month.
The Cauliflower, in High Road, which dates back to the late nineteenth century, has received the support of those living nearby who want to see it preserved as a public house.
John Law, who started the petition, recently sent a letter to councillors in Redbridge explaining the importance of making sure the building continues as a pub and not as a “supermarket or McDonald’s”.
The pub, which is registered as a listed building, and used to regularly hold live music nights, has been on the market since May and has received offers in the region of £400,000.
