Labour has announced its candidate to challenge Tory MP Iain Duncan Smith to represent Chingford and Woodford Green in Parliament at the next general election.
Bilal Mahmood, the potential candidate, said: “I was born and raised in a single-bedroom flat in the constituency to two wonderful, hard working people. Both of them came to the UK to toil for stability and prosperity.
“On my parents’ behalf, I am honoured and humbled to have been selected as the Labour Party candidate in the next general election.”
Mr Duncan Smith was first elected to represent Chingford in 1992 but then was re-elected in 1997 as a MPt for Chingford and Woodford Green.
