Leyton Orient face their biggest challenge of the season when they travel to pre-season favourite Peterborough United tomorrow.

Posh are third in League One, and having been cruelly relegated on goal difference from the Championship, they are one of the favourites to bounce back at the first time of asking.

The goals of Crystal Palace’s new record signing Dwight Gayle have not been missed thanks to eight goals from Congo-born Britt Assombolonga.

But midfielder Dean Cox thinks Peterborough will be more scared of Orient than vice-versa in a match which could go a long way towards Slade’s men laying down their promotion credentials.

He said: “They’ve got a fantastic squad but so do we. I think they may be a little more scared than what they would have been after the defeat at Colchester.

“They’ve got one of the better sides but we’ll go there and give it a go.

“They’ve spent something like £1.5million on Britt Assombolonga so we’ll see how far we’ve come.”

A setback against Coventry City saw Orient lose their first League One game of the season, but the leaders bounced back to beat Rotherham United last weekend courtesy of Kevin Lisbie’s 12th goal of the season.

Slade was delighted with the way his side recovered from the loss against Coventry and including their impressive run in the second half of last season, Orient have taken 90 points from 44 league games.

Their strikeforce has scored a combined 21 goals this season - 12 for veteran Lisbie and 9 for Irish frontman David Mooney.

Peterborough v Leyton Orient kicks off at 3pm at Posh’s London Road ground.
