Scott Cuthbert hopes the O’s can stand up to the strong test Preston pose tonight as Mauro Milanese takes charge of Leyton Orient for the first time.

Milanese has taken over managerial duties from previous interim boss Kevin Nugent after their 3-0 defeat at Port Vale on Saturday.

And while wary of the threat posed by a Preston side unbeaten in their last seven games, Cuthbert believes past experiences show Orient will raise their game against Simon Grayson’s side.

“It’s a massive game. Our home form has not been good this season and we have struggled,” said Cuthbert. “Preston are in great form. They will bring a great crowd and it will be a big test and one that we usually stand up to.”

And while disappointed with the below-par showing at Port Vale at the weekend, the 27-year-old is keen to put that result to the back of their mind and start a good run of results which will see the O’s move up the League One table.

“We have been on a decent run in the last three of four games, but let’s not get carried away with ourselves,” he added.

“We have done really well over the last 2/3 weeks to get ourselves out of the trouble we were in.

“That result on Saturday just a little setback. There are plenty more games to come, starting with Preston and all the boys are now focused on getting a result against them.”
