On June 2, 1953, 26-year-old Elizabeth was crowned Queen of England at Westminster Abbey – the world’s first international event to be broadcast on television.
This year will mark 60 years since the Queen’s Coronation and a festival will be held in her honour from July 11-14.
The Recorder wants to hear your stories from the day; did you watch the event on television? Did your street hold a party? Do you know anyone who lined the Queen’s route?
Let us know what you remember by calling 020 8477 3800, emailing Jessica.Earnshaw@archant.co.uk, tweeting @IlfordRecorder or by joining the conversation on www.streetlife.com.
