Daggers travel to Bescot Stadium in search of extending unbeaten run

Dagenham & Redbridge travel to Walsall tonight looking to extend their recent good run at the expense of one of their relegation rivals.

John Still’s men have picked up seven points from the last nine available, including an impressive away point at promotion-chasing Oldham Athletic.

Similarly, Walsall have enjoyed a renaissance under new boss Dean Smith, going four games unbeaten before Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth.

“Results breeds confidence and that’s now a tricky trip to Oldham and two good home wins,” said winger Darren Currie.

“The lads will be bouncing in the changing room and we’ll discuss where we can improve on the performance.

“But at this stage of the season the points are crucial and we’ll go to Walsall very confident.

“It will be tough, but they all are from now on in and the gaffer has highlighted that they’re all cup finals from now on.

“They’ll be fighting for their lives and we are and we’ll just go and impose our game on them and hopefully come away with three points.”

Currie could drop to the bench for the clash, with Danny Green returning from suspension and likely to line up on the right.

“I’m very mindful of the fact that it’s two games in a short period of time for Darren if I’m honest,” said Still.

“I’ll look at it and give it some thought before the game, but I am mindful if it being a Saturday then Tuesday.”

In other team news, despite coming off on Saturday with an arm injury, Scott Doe could keep his place in central defence.

“I’ve done a little bit of running. I didn’t really train with the lads, because if I get a knock it will be really painful as it’s still sore to touch,” said the 22-year-old.

“I’ll have to strap my arm up and put a bit of padding there so if I do hit anything or anyone it will soften the blow.

“I’ve spoken to the physio and the manager and he’s okay with me playing.”

Fellow defender Will Antwi, who was not named in the squad on Saturday, remains a doubt with a groin injury.
