Thousands of pounds have been given to a charity to give those who care for loved ones a day to themselves.

Ladbrokes gave £10,000 to Redbridge Carers Support Service based in Station Road, Ilford to give carers a day out.

Mary O’Shea, who attended the event, said: “Redbridge Carers give a break to carers as they have little time to themselves.”

She said that the carers at the centre range from children to one woman in her 90s.

“It was very interesting and we all were pleased to go round and see all the different rooms,” Mrs O’Shea added. “It was a very nice day.”
