Christmas festivities are well underway at La Sala restaurant after it hosted it first charity event this week since it opened.

A ticket-only dining event on Tuesday raised money for Haven House Children’s Hospice, in High Road, Woodford Green, selling tickets at £20 per person.

Mike Palfreman, the charity’s chief executive, said: “We rely on the support of our local business community to fund our work with life-limited children and families and so we’re delighted that La Sala has chosen to support us.”

He added the event was “a great way” to raise much-needed funds for the charity.

Haven House cares for 150 children and families, but its largely reliant on voluntary donations from the community.

It is hoped the event raised enough money to help fund services in the hospice’s Holistic Care Centre – which provides a range of therapeutic services to local life-limited children and families.

These services include music therapy, therapeutic yoga and parent training sessions.

James Horler, La Sala’s chairman, added he hopes to raise “lots of money” to help Haven House continue to do its “amazing and invaluable work”.
