Under fire King Solomon High school head Jo Shuter was today banned from teaching for life over misconduct at her previous school.
Ms Shuter was away from work at the Barkingside school last week after teaching regulator The National College for Teaching and Leadership found her guilty of unacceptable professional conduct at Kynaston Community Academy in St John’s Wood, London.
One of the abuses included charging the academy £7,000 for her 50th birthday party.
Ms Shuter resigned last year from the school after 11 years, but was appointed head of King Solomon in Forest Road, Barkingside.
A statement from King Solomon governors, sent to parents, read: “The Governing Body of King Solomon High School has become aware of parents’ concerns about the continued smooth running of the school, in the light of recent media reports of the misconduct hearing by the National College for Teaching and Leadership.
“This hearing was related to issues that arose prior to Jo Shuter’s appointment as Head Teacher at King Solomon.
“Until these issues are resolved, Jo Shuter will not be in school.”
A statement from the College for Teaching and Leadership today said Ms Shuter is prohibited from teaching indefinitely and cannot teach in any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation and children’s home in England.
