A 24-year-old drug dealer from Ilford has been jailed for nine months after unsuspecting officers found £70,000 worth of cannabis his car while pulling him over for a traffic offence.

Edmond Gaxha, 24, of Seymour Gardens in Ilford, was convicted of possession with intent to supply Class B drug at Basildon Crown Court on Friday (April 6).

Officers stopped Gaxha’s vehicle on Eastern Esplanade in Southend for a potential traffic offence on November 9.

After searching the car, approximately £70,000 worth of cannabis was found in the car boot.

Money found in the car at the time has been seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

After the sentencing, Pc Farr from Southend Local Policing Team said: “Stopping this car for a traffic offence has led to the removal of a large amount of drugs and an offender from the streets.

“We will not tolerate drug dealing in our community.”
