Twenty-seven local children who train at Redbridge Sports and Leisure have been awarded for their commitment to their sports over 2013.

The Jack Petchey Awards ceremony, on December 16, took place at the sports centre in Barkingside and praised the winners for their dedication in activities such as badminton, basketball and gymnastics.

During the evening the Redbridge Lions, a youth gymnastics group, performed one of their latest displays.

The Jack Petchey scheme provides over £20m each year to support sports clubs and schools to over 1,000 participating clubs.

Mr Petchey is a businessman who grew up in east London and is involved in many charitable endeavours.
