Ilford train operator Greater Anglia hails ‘excellent punctuality’ but engineering work on way

Train operator Greater Anglia has hailed “excellent levels of punctuality” in the last four weeks.

More than 93 per cent of services were classed as “on time” up to January 5 - meaning they arrived at stations within five minutes of the planned time.

But the Metro service, which runs from Shenfield to Liverpool Street through Chadwell Heath, Goodmayes, Seven Kings and Ilford, was slightly less punctual at 93.1 per cent, compared to the franchise 93.4 per cent average.

2012 saw some of the best times on the route since Greater Anglia took over the service - with over 94 per cent of trains arriving within five minutes of schedule.

But the number of trains run by the operator arriving within one minute of schedule was much lower at 71.6 per cent.

Greater Anglia managing director Ruud Haket said: “We will continue to work closely with our colleagues at Network Rail, focusing on further improvements for our customers and the region we serve.”

Disruption is expected between Norwich and London on seven Sundays and two Saturdays in February and March for planned engineering works.
