An Ilford air cadet has been honoured by one of the country’s oldest Air Training Corps.
Florentina Bowden, 14, from Ilford, was pronounced Cadet of the Year by the 6F (Romford) Squadron at a ceremony at its headquarters in London Road, Romford, last week.
The squadron welcomed Colonel Markham Bryant and Havering Mayor Cllr Pam Lights.
Commanding officer Flight Lieut Richard Cottam said: “It is always a hard decision for us to make, but Florentina outshone the rest last year. She did an abseil from the top of the YMCA in Romford, making a considerable amount of money in sponsorship.”
She also received an award for achieving the best results in leader training.
