Ilford Station’s York Road entrance reopened yesterday, following improvement works to prepare for Crossrail services.

The entrance, closed in February, will be open full-time between 6am and 11pm and fully staffed.

The works form part of a wider strategy to improve the station that includes a new ticket hall in Cranbrook Road, Ilford, the removal of the guard rails, an updated pedestrian crossing point and more lighting to make the area safer.

The station will also feature new lifts for platforms one, two/three and four.
