Children were "stunned" after listening to a talk by a woman whose son was stabbed to death.

Representatives of the Jimmy Mizen Foundation visited John Bramston Primary School, Newcastle Avenue, Hainault, together with St John Ambulance.

The foundation was set up after 16-year-old Jimmy was stabbed to death in south east London five years ago.

Grace Idowu, whose son was also stabbed to death five years ago and now works for the foundation, gave a talk to the Year 5 students on Monday.

John Lee, interim deputy head, said: “The kids were stunned about the story of the young person.”

The pupils were taught basic first aid, including the recovery position.

Jimmy’s brother Billy Mizen, a volunteer at the foundation said: “Giving them these skills will help them prepare and make young people safer.”
