Pupils honoured their multicultural community by celebrating their diversity and integration at this small primary school in Ilford.

The annual celebrations, which is one of the school’s biggest weeks in the social calendar, was a highlight for pupils, parents and teachers.

At Woodlands Primary School, in Loxford Lane, Ilford, 85 per cent of pupils speak more than one language, and students relish in learning from each other.

To celebrate the diversity, students celebrated International Week with a special focus on learning more about music from around the globe.

Montserrat Waobikeze, the modern foreign language co-ordinator at the school, who is also fondly known as “Señorita Monse“, thanked the participants for their enthusiastic efforts.

She said: “Everyone here at Woodlands Primary School celebrated an exciting international week.

“This year our theme was music around the globe.

“The children gained a wealth of knowledge about their dedicated continents and completed a range of relevant geography, history, English, maths, science, computing and art and design projects.

“The week culminated with a wonderful international parents evening during which the children shared their work and were able to complete some activities with their parents and carers.

“Finally everyone descended on the hall to enjoy delicious foods from all four corners of the globe!”
