An ambitious 43-year-old runner will take part in his 36th half or full marathon this weekend, to raise money for an Indian charity.

Manjeet Singh, of Courtland Avenue, Ilford will run the SimplyHealth Great Birmingham Run this month, after previously completing 16 full and 19 half marathons.

In September, Mr Singh took part in the Great North Run in Newcastle which saw Olympic champion Mo Farah and the Kenyan long distance runner Mary Keitany crowned as winners of the 2017 race.

Mr Singh said: “With the right physical and mental preparation you can complete your marathons in good time and really enjoy the miles you do.”

The runner will raise money for the Pingalwara Charity based in Amritsar, India, which helps those living in economically deprived conditions.

He told the Recorder: “I hope by raising funds and awareness for this charity I can help those who are suffering and truly in need.”
