Ilford man killed in M25 crash named as lorry driver charged

The man killed in the M25 crash on Tuesday has been named.

Ronald Moughton, 79, of Lowbrook Road, Ilford was declared dead at the scene after a collision involving four lorries and six cars at about 12.30pm.

Mr Moughton was in a Renault Clio with his 58-year-old son, also from Ilford, who is in a stable condition at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel.

A 47-year-old woman from Basildon is also in hospital.

Anton Maizen, 58, from Germany, was remanded in custody after appearing at Basildon Magistrates’ Court, Basildon yesterday.

He was arrested at the scene and charged with one count of death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He will appear at Basildon Crown Court on April 12.

A 43-year-old Polish lorry driver, who had also been arrested at the scene and later released without charge, is now being treated as a witness.
