Man dies after Ilford Lane crash

A pensioner has sadly died after he was hit by a truck on Ilford Lane this afternoon.
Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are appealing for information and witnesses following a fatal incident today.
Police were called to the Ilford Lane junction with Dudley Road by London Ambulance Service at 3.17pm today following reports of a serious road traffic collision.
Officers attended and found an elderly man in a critical condition following a collision with a truck.
The man, believed to be aged in his eighties, died at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle involved stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
The road is closed in both directions between Rutland Road and Windsor Road following the tragic incident.
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 3.15pm today, November 8, to reports of a road traffic collision at Ilford Lane, Ilford.
“We dispatched London’s air ambulance to the scene as well as an ambulance crew, a single responder in a car and an incident response officer.
“The first of our medics was on scene in five minutes but, despite the best efforts of everyone involved, sadly, the patient died at the scene.”
The Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit continue to deal with the incident. No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue.
