Helping others was the order of the day at one school which raised more than £250 for charities with a variety of fun fundraising schemes.

Ilford Jewish Primary School was raising money as part of Tzedakah day, which encourages people to give up a few hours to help with community projects.

About 50 children at the school, in Forest Road, Barkingside, raised £280 for charities by holding raffles, name the bear, lucky dips and guess the sweets in the jar.

The school chose to raise money for Help for Heroes and Keren Malki, which provides care to special needs children in Israel.
