An Ilford goalkeeper is dreaming of turning professional in the near future after being selected to play for Great Britain in Israel.

Rossy Weinrabe, 17, of High Road, will take part in the Maccabiah Games after entering Samsung’s Win A Pro Contract competition in the hope of signing for either Swindon Town, Leyton Orient or Wycombe Wanderers.

The teenager, who has played for Wingate and Finchley FC Reserves for the past two years, said: “Last season I got player of the season so I am definitely going in the right direction.

“I was selected to represent Great Britain in this month’s Maccabia Games. The GB manager saw me play in a cup final and invited me to trial. After four rounds I got through. I am incredibly proud of that.”
