Pupils at Wohl Ilford Jewish Primary School are assisting with relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.
The most powerful hurricane ever formed in the Atlantic left more than 100 people dead and flattened entire communities.
The tragedy has roots in the school’s community as the relatives of two WIJPS pupils have been affected by the storm.
Along with many storm-shocked residents in St Maarten and Saba, they are currently without basic essentials, electricity and drinking water.
Three weeks on from its assault, students, parents and staff at WIJPS have been busy collecting toiletries to support those affected.
At the school, in Forest Road, Ilford, pupils filled their classrooms with hurricane relief donations on Friday.
Medical supplies and other aid is being flown from the UK to the worst affected areas following a £32 million pledge from the British Government.
