Exasperated cleaners are calling on commuters to help get to the bottom of why a mystery man is defecating daily on the toilet floor of a Redbridge tube station.

The Recorder has seen a sign taped to the door of the men’s toilet in Snaresbrook Underground, in Station Approach.

Demanding that the culprit cease his unusual ritual, it reads: “WHOEVER DEFECATES ON THE FLOOR DAILY????

“MAN UP!!!!!!!....

“RESPECT OTHER USERS AND THE CLEANERS.”

The Recorder approached Transport for London (TfL) to find out more about how long the offending behaviour has been going on and whether the culprit has been caught.

A TfL spokeswoman said: “We aim to provide convenient, clean, accessible and safe toilets for our customers on the Tube, wherever we can.

“Our cleaning contractors make every effort to keep station toilets clean but it’s clear that the facilities are being deliberately misused in this case, for which we apologise.

“We are closely monitoring the situation to try to identify the person responsible.”

Can you help us get to the bottom of this mystery?
