Families and friends made the most of the baking hot weekend sun, and enjoyed an array of live music at the first Wanstead Park festival of the year.

Hundreds visited The Temple’s garden, off Warren Road, on Sunday, to relax with picnics and savour the acts playing on the stage.

Children rolled down the hill and played with the many dogs lolloping around in the grass.

The event was the first Friends of Wanstead Parklands music festival of the summer, and committee member Gill James said it was a “great start”.

“We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of entertainment, which also acted as a great showcase for local talent,” said Gill.

“Our thanks to Ron Albrow, the musicians and everyone who helped out.

“This was a great start to our series of five events over the summer months.”

There will be further gigs on June 25, July 9, August 6 and September 10.

All admission is £2, and refreshments are available.
