An Ilford knife crime campaigner is bringing hundreds of people together in a new campaign.
Danny O’Brien, who founded Anti Knife UK, started the “thumbs down to knife crime” campaign at the start of the month, encouraging supporters to send in their pictures.
The campaign follows the stabbing of a 15-year-old boy in a Hainault park.
The boy was in Manford Way park near flats in Woodman Avenue when he was stabbed several times in the upper body as children played nearby on May 20.
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
More than 150 people have responded to the “thumbs down” campaign far, including actor Graham Cole, who played Pc Tony Stamp in long-running television series The Bill.
Danny said: “It’s a fun campaign with a serious message.
“It just makes people think and the more people do it, the more people will support that message.”
To join the campaign, tweet a picture of yourself with your thumbs down to @NOKNIVES2013 or post the picture on the Anti-Knife UK Facebook group.
