Lorry driver arrested for driving on drugs after pedestrian killed at Charlie Brown’s roundabout

A woman, reportedly in her 30s, has died following a collision with a lorry at Charlie Brown’s roundabout in South Woodford this morning.
The driver, a 45-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
He was taken to an east London police station where he was also arrested for death by careless driving. The man has since been bailed.
Officers were called to the roundabout’s junction with Southend Road, at 9am, after reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a lorry.
Emergency services, including the Air Ambulance, attended and found the women severely injured. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Formal identification awaits and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. Next of kin have not yet been informed.
Police officers attended for several hours.
Southend Road was closed westbound but has since been reopened.
