TOWN CENTRE chiefs are hoping a new forum bringing businesses and decision-makers together will help encourage more shoppers to Ilford.

Mall Ilford manager Marc Myers, who is also chairman of the Ilford Business Improvement District (BID) board, believes the work of his team in improving the town centre is already reaping rewards, citing reduced crime rates and better street cleaning provisions.

He said: “We want people to come to Ilford three or four times a week and we want to achieve that together by sharing common issues and common problems.”

And town centre manager Neil Davis said the forum gives people a “great opportunity to come and ask us whatever they want, whether it be an issue with antisocial behaviour or a neighbour’s rubbish which is causing problems.”

The first meeting saw representatives from Redbridge Council, the police and members of Ilford’s Business Improvement District (BID) board in a two-hour informal gathering at If bar, Ilford Hill, Ilford.
