An 11-year-old Redbridge campaigner has won an award at the Houses of Parliament from a young people’s think tank.

Destiny Dalby, of Great Owl Road, Chigwell, was highly commended for the most inspirational campaign on youth issues by Kidz Count.

The youngster, who has serious allergies and who is working for a change in the law, is a previous monthly winner of the Recorder’s Young Citizen Award.

Along with her mother, Paula Braithwaite-Dalby, she has written to the Prime Minister, the Department of Education and other bodies.

They want there to be a statutory responsibility for education providers to be trained and responsible for providing medication to allergy sufferers, particularly if they go into shock.

Paula said: “We’d like there to be protection for teachers and pupils.”
