The location for the first adult playground in Redbridge had been decided.
In June, Redbridge Council said it would be erecting monkey bars and climbing ropes for grown-ups in either Clayhall Park, Longwood Gardens or Fairlop Waters, Forest Road.
Now residents, who have wistfully watched the kids swinging in the playground or even had a cheeky go on the zip wire, will soon be able to join in themselves at Clayhall park.
Deputy leader of the council and cabinet member for finance and resources, Councillor Kam Rai said he is really pleased that work on the outdoor area is “well underway”.
“This is a great way to improve the health of all our borough as you can train at a pace that suits you and within groups,” he said.

‘We chose Clayhall park for the first of these gyms as it is centrally located in the borough, next to a boxing club and easily accessible.
“The more we use our parks the more welcoming and safer they become and I really hope residents value it.”

We asked residents in an online poll if they would like an adult playground in Redbridge and which location they would prefer.
More than 450 readers took park with 42per cent favouring Clayhall Park.
Thirty-four per cent said they would like equipment built at Fairlop Waters and 15pc said they would like it built in the borough at another location.
Under 10pc of voters said they do not want it built at all.
The council previously told the Recorder the finished installation will not be like anything residents have seen in the borough’s green spaces before.
The outfit will have callisthenics apparatus and climbing ropes so residents can use their own body weight to work out.
Leader of the council, councillor Jas Athwal said the project is part of a drive to help the people of the borough to lead active and healthier lifestyles.
“Over the recent years street workouts and callisthenics have become more popular and it is a great, low-cost way for people to work out together.
“It helps to promote health and wellbeing and increases our offering to residents.”
