A grieving son has paid tribute to his dad after he died on Monday – nine days after he was stabbed.
Arnold Onea, 25, said Florin Onea, 49, of Hickling Road, Ilford, was the “best dad in the world” after police launched a murder investigation into the death on Tuesday.
It comes after Florin was found with a stab wound at an address in the street when officers were called to reports of a disturbance, on Saturday, October 17.
“My dad was a very strong man, he was very powerful, he was unbelievable,” added Arnold, from Portsmouth, who said his father had come to the UK from Romania six years ago.
“He was one of the best people – he used to come to play with my boy in Portsmouth all the time,” he said.
“And the last time I saw him was the Monday before it happened. He fought for his life for nine days, he had almost total brain damage – he was dead from day one. He was breathing with a machine.”
Arnold said the family could not afford the funeral costs and were asking friends to help. He said: “Dad was a very good person and he deserves a good funeral – everyone loved him.”
