Children got the chance to emulate their heroes at the annual Woodford Fire Station fun day.

Firefighters gave youngsters a chance to use the brigade’s hoses, while their parents enjoyed food and drinks in the sun on Saturday.

All of Woodford Fire Station, in Snakes Lane West, Woodford Green, was open, with visitors able to explore the trucks, pumps and even the iconic firefighters’ pole.

Police held stalls giving out information and showing equipment.

Officers on horses gave children a chance to pet the animals.

They also displayed old police cars dating back more than 20 years.
