Zac Hassan, from Fencepiece Road, started volunteering for Haven House in 2016 and a few weeks ago he plunged 13,000 feet in a tandem jump.

He said: “In the past two years Haven House has rapidly become a charity very close to my heart which offers incredible respite care for children and young people with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions.

“I have been fortunate enough to work, every week, alongside the care team who provide vital support and care for these families. As well as supporting respite care, I help with the Teenage Cancer Group, the Dad’s Group and have also assisted with music therapy sessions. These are just a few of the of the additional services Haven House offers making it such a special place.”

Later this year, Zac plans to raise further funds for Haven House with a golf day at Chigwell Golf Club on Friday, September 7.

Guests will have the chance to beat the pro on the 10th hole and take part in a longest drive and nearest to pin competition.

They will also be able to enjoy an evening drinks reception, followed by a three-course dinner and live auction.

Zac said: “I look forward to seeing you for what is set to be a superb day.

“As well as being a lot of fun, this event is a great way for local businesses to support Haven House, either by sponsoring a hole on the course or donating a fabulous prize to the live auction.

“I am hoping that between us, we can be involved in a day filled with fun, laughter and of course strong competition to raise funds and awareness for Haven House.”

Ginny Donnelly, Community fundraiser at Haven House, said: “Zac is a wonderful volunteer and whether it’s plunging from an aircraft or putting on a spectacular golf day, he really goes the extra mile to raise funds for our hospice.”
