Haven House Children’s Hospice in Woodford Green has received a thumbs-up from the national healthcare provider and praise from families who use it.
The hospice in High Road, which cares for children with life-limiting conditions and their families, was judged to be meeting all six essential standards by the Care Quality Commission following a routine unannounced inspection in February.
Respecting and involving people who uses its services; care and welfare of people; and safeguarding people who use services from abuse where among the areas meeting standards according to inspectors.
The report said: “Everyone we spoke to said the quality of care was of a high standard.
“All relatives spoken to described the service in very positive terms.”
One relative described Haven House as “outstanding”.
The visit included an inspection of care records; observing how children were being cared for and talking to staff.
Christine Twomey, the hospice’s director of care, said: “I am delighted with the results of this inspection.
“It’s incredibly important that as a provider of specialist palliative care, we meet the essential standards expected of us and that this is routinely monitored.”
