Ryman One North: Redbridge 0 Harlow Town 4

Jeff Hammond scored all four goals against his former club as Harlow Town strolled to a 4-0 victory against Redbridge last night.

The opening 10 minutes of the match were cagey as neither side had a real chance on goal, but the first shot of the game fell to Harlow’s Piers Wixon who narrowly missed the target.

It took until 21 minutes for the deadlock to be broken as former Motormen striker Hammond ran through the defence on the right-hand side to slot a low shot past Matthew Gill at a tight angle.

No more than two minutes later, Hammond doubled his and Harlow’s lead with a well-struck header following Dagenham & Redbridge loanee Tom Davie’s accurate cross.

It was then inevitable that Hammond would get his hat-trick, but he missed one decent opportunity a solo effort from the forward went just wide of the Redbridge goal with 10 minutes left of the half.

Five minutes before the interval, Hammond completed the hat-trick when another neat header hit the back of the net after a delightful cross from Wixon.

The home sides’ first shot on target came two minutes into the second period as Joe Bricknell’s tame free-kick found the arms of Ryohei Tamal in the Hawks goal.

The second-half provided very little entertainment for the strong travelling support, but a fourth goal was added to the scoresheet by none-other-than Hammond.

The goal came as Redbridge captain Nicki Beale failed to clear his lines and Hammond took full advantage by poking his shot into the goal for his and Harlow’s fourth.
