A Hainault-based community project has been schooling residents in sauerkraut to promote environmental sustainbility and improved mental health.
Ecotherapy project Forest Farm Peace Gardens (FFPG), in Hazelbrouck Gardens, ran a Simple Food Fermentation Workshop on Friday, April 20.
Around a dozen guests attended to get their hands dirty in perfecting a plethora of recipes for fermented foods, which are abundant in bacteria beneficial to the digestive system.
Founded in 2014, FFPG work to support people facing mental health issues - including adults with learning disabilities, refugees and asylum seekers - with outdoor nature based activities.
Other activities on offer also include bee-keeping, organic gardening, wildlife conservation and mindfullness in nature.
The project is gearing up to host a World Music Day event - featuring a community picnic with music, nature walks and pizza-oven baking - on June 24.
