Ex-Essex batsman Graham Gooch and Middlesex’s Mike Gatting played a combined total of 197 Test matches for their country, amassing more than 13,300 runs along the way.

As former captains of the national side, both will be having their say on England’s chances in the World Cup Down Under, starting Saturday.

There will be a silent auction and raffle in aid of Haven House Children’s Hospice, High Road, in Woodford Green. The 120-strong audience will have a chance to ask the pair questions at the event, starting at 7pm, in the Napier Arms in Woodford New Road, South Woodford.

Tickets, costing £20, can be purchased at The Napier Arms or online at: www.sportingcelebrities.com
