As the summer holidays loom closer, activities in the classroom relax a little while the sun shines on the desks through school windows.

To combat the pupils’ longing for the outdoors, a group of children were taken for an exciting and action-packed day at Stubbers Activity and Adventure Centre.

The children from Eastcourt Independent School, Eastwood Road, Goodmayes, were packed onto a bus to take them to the Upminster centre for the day.

While there, they took part in raft building – even putting their creations to the test on the lake – abseiling, banana boat riding and rock climbing.

Year 3 teacher, Mike Bell, said: “It’s a perk of being Year 6 really.

“The children get to go on this visit every year as sort of a relief from all the hard work they have put in during their time at Eastcourt.”

Stubbers has been serving the schools and groups of London, Essex and Hertfordshire for more than 20 years, offering a range of activities to students of all ages.

It also opens up to business and corporate events hoping to prove teamwork is essential, especially when building a raft and one of you could end up in the water.

The range of activities covered at Stubbers is vast, including kayaking, as high ropes course, rifle shooting, orienteering, quad biking and fencing.

The day took the children over land, water and through the air in a fun, active and exciting way to end the school year.

Mr Bell added: “Everyone had a very good time at Stubbers.

“It was an enjoyable day for everyone and I think some of the teachers may have gotten stuck in as well – I would have if I was there but that might just be me.”
