Smiling faces brightened an otherwise gloomy day as students at a Woodford Green school did themselves proud.
With 98.3 per cent of pupils getting an A*, A or B at Bancroft’s School, High Road, the 16 year olds managed to match the best-ever figures their peers at the school had achieved.
More than half of all exams taken were awarded an A*, compared with a national figure of 6.8 per cent.
Eight pupils secured a clean sweep of 10 A*s, while 16 achieved nine A*s.
Head Mary Ireland said: “I am really proud of the year group; they have all worked very hard and every one of them has achieved a good set of grades.”
