GCSE results: Strong showing at Bancroft’s School in modern languages and science

There was a strong showing from Bancroft’s School in Woodford Green with its GCSE results today.

Its Year 10 pupils achieved the school’s best-ever GCSE marks with high achievement in modern languages and science.

55 per cent of exams taken at the school in High Road resulted in A* grades and 97 per cent led to A*, A or B grades. Though no languages feature in the top 10 most popular GCSE subjects this year nationally, Bancroft’s’ pupils excelled in Spanish, with 81 per cent getting an A*, and in German, with 70 per cent getting the same grade.

81 per cent of chemistry students got an A.

Headteacher Mary Ireland said: “Congratulations to all our hard working students on their results and also to the talented staff who continue to inspire them.”
