Colleagues are preparing to say a fond farewell to a man who spent over three decades working on the railway.

Raj Joshi, 60, from Gants Hill, will be retiring after working for Abellio Greater Anglia for 33 years.

He began his career at Stratford in 1981, where he worked in payroll.

He also worked in Ilford and Shenfield before moving to Colchester and working with the finance team as a payroll administrator.

Raj was recently involved in a big project to upgrade the payroll system.

Kathryn Cole, Abellio Greater Anglia’s payroll manager, said: “Raj has made a huge contribution to the railway and especially to our payroll team, of which he is the longest serving member. He will be missed, but we do all wish him a long and very happy retirement.”

Raj plans to begin his retirement by visiting relatives in Tanzania before carrying out some DIY jobs.
