Old show tunes were the order of the day for a choir from a Jewish Care community centre.

The group from Vi & John Rubens House, Clarence Avenue, Gants Hill, gave it their all as they entertained relatives and staff led by volunteer, Iris Cohen, last week.

The 12-strong choir, which have been performing together for five years, sang a series of show tunes and love songs.

Manager Mary O’Rourke said: “It was a lovely evening and it went wonderfully well. The highlight for our residents was getting dressed up.

“The choir sang all the old music hall stage songs, Al Jolson and some Yidishe songs. Some residents even did short dances as well.”
