Helmets, gas masks and entrenchment tools were among historical artefacts handled by youngsters as part of a special themed week.
Students at Gearies Primary School, in Waremead Road, Gants Hill, took part in a programme of activities last week to mark the centenary of the First World War.
They produced a range of work inspired by the conflict, including drawings and colourful posters.
The artefacts, which the school had on loan from the Woolwich Arsenal Museum, included soldiers’ uniforms, grenades and other memorabilia.
Teachers also collected together First World War books for the children to study.
